Houston’s Uptown Classic Theatre Presents a Classic Romantic Comedy
The Texas Repertory Theatre Co., NW Houston’s critically-acclaimed professional theatre, continues its spring season with a romantic comic classic, Neil Simon’s charming Barefoot in the Park sponsored by Robare & Jones Asset Managers. Starting March 24th and running through April 11th, Barefoot in the Park is the charming story of two newlyweds who couldn’t be more different, and who learn that in life as well as love, “variety is the spice of life”! Barefoot in the Park is one of the most remembered and cherished romantic comedies ever penned, and Simon’s delightful play has been freshly re-invented by the talented artists and designers at “Houston’s Uptown Classic Theatre”.
The quintessential romantic comedy, Barefoot in the Park follows the lives of newlyweds Corie and Paul Bratter as they adjust to life in a tiny Greenwich Village apartment. Paul is a lawyer who’s wound up a little too tight, while Corie is a free spirit bubbling over with romantic notions. But six exhausting flights of stairs, strange neighbors, and a giant hole in the skylight don’t bode well for a smooth start to their married life. When Corie meet Victor Velasco, an aging but charming womanizer, and decides to introduce him to her shy, staid mother, the stage is set for an evening of love and laughter. Featuring the mother / son duo of Helen and Stephen Myers (both familiar to Texas Repertory audiences), Barefoot in the Park is a must-see event!
The Texas Repertory Theatre Co., NW Houston’s critically-acclaimed professional theatre, is in its 5th Anniversary season and continues to produce year-round theatrical entertainments featuring the finest in talent from Houston and around the country. Barefoot in the Park will preview March 24th, celebrate its Gala Opening on March 25th, and run 4 performances a week through April 11th.
